Paper Magazine's music series Sounds Like Paper came to Greenpoint's House of Vans last night with an oddly matched double bill featuring hip-hop sweetheart Swizz Beatz and teeny bopper heartthrob Joe Jonas—yes, one of THOSE Jonases. Our buddies at Vice gave us reports that packs of Jonas Brothers fans were running rampant through Williamsburg and Greenpoint all day long looking for Joe, and some of them found him on the mostly deserted block on Franklin St. He survived.
After his short set, his dutiful fans filed neatly out of the venue, and left more space for the rest of us to enjoy Swizz Beatz. Paper Magazine party organizers are living a teenager's fantasy—with the invitation promising food trucks at the party, all we could find was ice cream for dinner...and lots of free beer. It was just like college.
