1/28/2012- A Real SpeakEasy Event at Shanghai Mermaid Dragon Ball!

on saturday, january 28th . . . you are cordially invited to attend our annual chinese new year celebration at the red lotus room! step back into the glamour and decadence of 1930's shanghai, and enter THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON. doors will open at 10:15pm. live music and performance will be scattered throughout the evening until the wee hours. come sip secret elixirs, smoke hookahs beneath a bevy of chinese lanterns, and watch an evening full of amazing performances. our cigarette girl will have cigars, cigarettes, chocolates, and {a new version of} madame shanghai's secret potion. chinese veggie dumplings, almond cookies, and chinese tea will be available at our shanghai dumpling stand. a very limited number of hookahs will be available for a modest fee, and there will be a fire in the garden. performers, bands, and exact address will be announced soon. asian costume or dressy/ formal vintage attire is required. casual, contemporary attire will not be admitted, no exceptions. {please explain the dress code to your guests, to avoid disappointment}. 龍 tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. tables are $50. tables seat 2-4 people {and will sell out in advance}. to purchase tickets and tables please go to: www.shanghaimermaid.com you are a dragon if you were born in 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, or 1988. 恭禧發財 i'm so looking forward to seeing you! p.s. please refrain from bringing flasks to the red lotus room if you choose to bring flasks, we will hold them for you until after the party. p.p.s. and we finally have a facebook page, so feel free to visit and check out the beautiful photos taken at shanghai mermaid: shanghaimermaid.facebook.com
