on saturday, april 7th . . . you are cordially invited to attend our 5th anniversary soirée! step back into the paris of the 1920s and '30s, and bring your most glamorous selves to our glittering and decadent celebration. sip absinthe, drink champagne, and dance to red hot jazz. wear your feathers and pearls, beaded gowns, top hats, and berets. mingle with the likes of josephine baker, man ray, salvadore dali, kiki de montparnasse, ernest hemingway, djuna barnes, f. scott fitzgerald, pablo picasso, james joyce, nancy cunard, and gertrude stein. please come celebrate with us, in all of your elegance and wild abandon. jazz age paris was the epicenter of artists, intellectuals, and the avant-garde. the sidewalk cafés and nightclubs of paris were the hub of a great and artistic community, filled with internationals and expatriates. it was a time of insight and inspiration, decadence and depravity. ˚˚˚ doors will open at 9pm, {much earlier than usual, for a very special evening}. the first band will go on at 9:30pm, and music and performance will be scattered throughout the evening until the wee hours. our cigarette girl will have cigars, cigarettes, chocolates, and madame shanghai's secret potion. snacks will be served in the bistro area, and there will be a fire in the garden. performers and location to be announced closer to the party. costume or dressy/ formal vintage attire is required. casual, contemporary attire will not be admitted, no exceptions. {please explain the dress code to your guests, to avoid disappointment}. ˚˚˚ tickets are $30 in advance, and $35 at the door {if available}. click here for tickets tables are $75, and seat 2-4 people maximum. if you'd like a table, please email me with your name and how many people you'd like at your table. you will be emailed back with a table code and a link to where you can purchase your table. table purchase does not include entry. click here for tables ˚˚˚ i'm so looking forward to seeing you all on april 7th . . . and i would like to thank you for supporting shanghai mermaid for the first five years! it's been an honor and a privilege creating secret soirées for such lovely people. it has also been, and continues to be, quite an exciting adventure. p.s. photos from the silent film party will be up this week on our facebook page: shanghaimermaid.facebook p.p.s. if you are interested in helping with set-up the week of the party in exchange for admission, please contact me.
