Dances of Vice presents PARISIAN FOLLIES, a New Year’s Eve “Grande Spectacle” that will traverse through Paris’ Golden Age, the 1890s Belle Époque, to the vibrant 1920s Années folles, at the Grand Prospect Hall.
This sumptuous revue offers a melange of Parisian delights, from opera to vaudeville and can can girls all within the palatial rooms of Brooklyn’s famed architectural tribute to Versailles. Built as a “temple of music and amusement” in 1892, the Grand Prospect Hall is steeped in history and intrigue, and has hosted extravagant balls and secret societies since its inception.
As the clock strikes midnight, revel in playful Rococo and Belle Epoque entertainment with a dash of decadent pleasure-seeking evocative of postwar Paris in tribute to the splendid history of infamous cabaret halls of Paris, including the Folies Bergère, Moulin Rouge, and the glorious Casino de Paris, which has a history dating back to 1730.
In an intimate version of Le Chat Noir of Montmartre, you can savor the bitter beauty of absinthe served in 19th Century style, and move your feet to the music of the “Lost Generation” as they did at Chez Bricktop’s, a beacon for Parisian nightlife in the 1920s. To prepare for a long night of dancing, gastronomically inclined guests can also opt dine on a lavish buffet of rich French cuisine (See Menu).
