The NJ4 are a group of four lesbians from Newark who received severe jail sentences for fighting back against an attack in New York City. Many facts and concrete evidence, including accounts that several men appeared and it was they who stabbed the aggressor, were ignored in their case to convict them based on racist and homophobic stereotypes. The man who sexually and violently assaulted them survived and was championed by the media.
