3/6-8/2009- Pool Art Fair

*I applied for this and got accepted! But you are not going to find my work here...why?

Well what you dont notice is an applicant applies is that if you are accepted there are two payments of $850 you need to pay in order to have your space. This is supposed to be for emerging young artists? so where are we supposed to get $1700 bucks? DO you know how many paintings that would take me to sell in order to break EVEN? $1700!!!????When I did mention it to the group how steep the price was, they lowered it to $1500 for me....(thats nice of them, I still said thanks, but no thanks.)

When you go check out the show, and you see how many artists there are just count the $1700 that each person HAD to pay inorder to exhibit. Free Independent pays a small sum for the rental of the hotel room, and the rest is theirs. Screw being an artist, I am going to start renting space so Artists can pay me to show their work!

Free Independent is proud to present “Me Me Me,” the sixth New York edition of PooL, its annual independent art fair. The PooL Art Fair will be held for the first time at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Chelsea after two successful years at the historical Hotel Chelsea. Each room offers a 32-inch plasma screen and the lobby’s three plasma displays promise quite a solid presence of new media art at this year’s show. This brand new hotel has reserved 3 to 4 consecutive floors just for the PooL Artists, allowing visitors to have a condensed view of the artists’ works.
