VOLUNTEER

Non-Dancers Wanted for Performance with Choreographer Michael Clark for
Whitney Biennial 2012

Whitney Museum

The Whitney Museum and Michael Clark Company are seeking unpaid volunteers without formal dance training to work on a piece of “mass choreographic action” and perform as part of Michael Clark’s latest work for the 2012 Biennial. This project follows Clark’s hugely successful project at Tate Modern in London, which also involved a large group of untrained volunteers.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Age 18 or older
  • No previous formal dance training
  • Physically able to participate in movement/dance for 2 to 3 hours a day
  • Available for all performance and rehearsal times, with flexibility to attend rehearsals on other days/times as needed. Please visitwhitney.org for a complete schedule. Participation involves a very extensive time commitment, so please do not apply if you cannot commit to all the dates referenced on the website.
To apply, please send a CV, phone number, and a short text about yourself (up to 300 words) to Kristen_Stevens@whitney.org by 5 pm on Tuesday, March 1. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we are unable to contact applicants who have not been selected.
